Steps & Stages

What if the delays and detours in our lives are not signs of God's absence, but evidence of His careful preparation? In this message drawn from Exodus 23, we are walked through God's promise to the children of Israel as they journeyed toward the land He had prepared for them. The central truth is both simple and profound: God does not drive out our enemies, our bad habits, or our spiritual immaturity all at once. He does it little by little, because we are not yet ready to steward everything He has for us. The land was real, the promise was sure, but the process was intentional. We are challenged to stop treating slow progress as no progress, and to recognize that the transformation God works in us on the way to our destination is just as important as the destination itself. If we arrive unprepared, we waste the very thing we prayed for. The Israelites were not just being moved from one place to another. They were being remade into people capable of inhabiting what God had set aside for them. The same is true for us. The question is not whether God has prepared something. The question is whether we are willing to walk the path that prepares us for it.
